I gave AI my fantasy football team. We’re 2–0.

I let AI draft my fantasy football team...

Then I figured I might as well let it manage the season too.

I don’t know much about football. I joined the fantasy league at my work and decided to see how far I could get with AI helping me make the decisions.

So far, I’m 2–0 and sitting second in the standings, tied for first by record. I’m pretty happy with that.

I set up a dedicated Grok Bot for fantasy football and gave it my ESPN team as context. I use it to review my roster, track injuries, figure out who should start, and look for trades.

I also brought in GPT-6 Astra for another opinion, with a recurring Tuesday review after the week’s games. It looks at the team, evaluates waiver options, and suggests what to improve.

Basically, I’ve gone from not knowing who to draft to having two AI models helping me work through the season.

This morning, I asked Grok:

“How’s my team looking? Should we make some trades?”

It spotted injury concerns with Jayden Daniels and Dallas Goedert in my upcoming lineup. The bot reported replacing them with Matthew Stafford and Mark Andrews, then moving Michael Pittman Jr. into the IR slot to free up bench space.

These are the kinds of things I wouldn’t necessarily catch on my own. Even if I saw an injury notification, I wouldn’t immediately know who to replace that player with or what else needed to change.

Then we got into trades.

It suggested using some of my quarterback depth to improve my receivers while keeping Jonathan Taylor and Breece Hall. It gave me a few options, I picked one, and it reported sending an offer of Daniel Jones and Jalen Coker for Brian Thomas Jr.

That offer is still pending. Apparently, the other person gets a say too.

My team has scored 267.6 points over two weeks. According to the bot’s recap, the last win was 111.44 to 109.12. I’ll take the 2.32 points.

What I like most is being able to ask questions about my actual team. Why should this player start? Am I giving up too much in this trade? Should I make a move or leave things alone?

I don’t have to pretend I know what I’m doing. I can ask, get an explanation, and learn as I go.

There’s still some back and forth. Browser access has failed a few times, and I’ve had to retry things. I’m also approving trades myself. But this is already making fantasy football way more accessible and fun for me.

AI drafted my team, and now I’m using it to help manage the whole season. Two weeks in, I’m undefeated in my work league despite knowing very little about the sport.

That’s a pretty good reason to keep going.
