I Asked Grok Bot to Form an LLC. Here Is the Exact Setup.

The question

Can an AI agent carry a business from a legal question to real formation paperwork, or does it stop at a checklist?

I used a made up company as a test, Magnolia Loaf, a home bakery in Mississippi. A home bakery asks two questions at once. Can we create the company? And can that company legally sell anything? The first is a filing. The second is a statute. Most chatbots blur them and answer neither.

We ran both in one Grok Bot chat with one connector installed. The agent in that chat is named Magnolia. Magnolia Loaf is the bakery.

The Corpus Agent Kit

The kit bundles the hosted Corpus MCP connector with two portable skills. One does legal research. The other runs the formation intake: what to ask, in what order, and where to stop. It has setup paths for Grok Bot, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Hermes.

The prompt that matters

Do not ask the model to remember the law. Make it look the law up and show its work.

Question: I am starting a home bakery in Mississippi called Magnolia Loaf. Do I need a health department permit before I sell packaged baked goods from my home kitchen?

Rules for your answer:

1. Call law.search scoped to jurisdiction MS, then law.get_node on the provision you rely on.

2. Cite the statute, not a vibe. Give the citation exactly as Corpus returns it.

3. State every condition attached to any exemption: which foods, what sales cap, what labeling, and where I may and may not sell.

4. If Corpus does not cover the jurisdiction or returns nothing on point, say so. Do not fill the gap from memory.

5. End with: "General information, not legal advice."

What a good answer looks like

Three parts: a jurisdiction, a citation, and the words "not legal advice."

The citation is Miss. Code Ann. § 75-29-951. A cottage food operation that complies with the section and has annual gross sales at or under $35,000 is exempt from the state's food-establishment permitting requirement.

That exemption is conditional, and an answer that skips the conditions is the dangerous kind of right:

• Qualifying foods only. The Department of Health's list includes baked goods without cream, custard, or meat fillings. A custard pie is out.

• Prepackaged and labeled, including the statement "Made in a cottage food operation that is not subject to Mississippi's food safety regulations."

• No sales over the Internet, by mail order, at wholesale, or to a retail establishment. Advertising online is allowed.

• The $35,000 cap counts all cottage food sales at any location.

Not every home bakery is exempt, and a state health-permit exemption says nothing about your city's business license or zoning rules.

Three 2026 bills tried to change the cap: HB 910, HB 1108, and SB 2398. All three died in committee. The cap stands.

One honest detail from our recording. The agent did not find the connector on its first pass and went looking through its installed connectors before the call went through. We left that in. It shows a real tool call happened. It does not show that the model is reliable.

Then open the statute and read it yourself. The citation is the product.

From the same chat into formation

Next message, same conversation: form an LLC for Magnolia Loaf through the Corpus plugin. The agent calls formation.requirements for the Mississippi checklist, reuses what the chat already knows, confirms an industry code with formation.lookup_naics, and calls formation.handoff.

When the draft is complete, the tool returns a prefilled link to corpuslaw.us/formation.

On our recorded order the review panel read 8 of 8 complete: Mississippi, member-managed, NAICS 311811 (Retail Bakeries), principal office, contact, member, and organizer. Nothing was retyped.

Creating the company is not permission to operate it

Before payment, the formation page returned a map of what to check:

• Cottage food labeling and sales restrictions under § 75-29-951.

• Mississippi's annual report, due April 15.

• Keep a registered agent in the state.

• Check city or county business licensing.

• Get a free EIN from the IRS when you need one. The IRS never charges for an EIN.

The recorded order, dated 2026-09-20: a $54 recorded filing estimate, $100 for the registered agent in year one, and $96 for Corpus. That is $250 estimated.
